I.E. changes original icons to I.E. icons

Hello everyone it's not that big of a deal but it's easier to find your favorites with the original icons. If I delete them all then go back and add my web sites the original icons are back but after a few days all sites in favorites have the I.E. icon. Is there some way to lock the icons. Btw i'm using XP Pro.

i reckon once "History" is cleared or Temporary Internet files are deleted, the icons disappear.
so one option might be to NOT clear "History" maybe!!

FavOrg v1.4 is a free utility that should scan and keep your Favorite folder`s icons for you.
Favicons are usually lost when you delete your Temporary Internet Files, but FavOrg preserves them. The program also lets you associate any icon you choose with a given shortcut, even if no favicon is provided.
I didn`t use it myself, but i read that its very good in what it suppose to do
Good luck and please report back whether you like it or not.

i just tried the favorg utility. not bad...a lot of my bookmarks don't have an icon for them, but it seems like a cool little program nonetheless.

    thanks, kenkun.

ps. haven't used a pcmag utility in years...i remember back in my DOS days how they would come up with a lot of little useful proggies.

    You`re welcome guys
Actually there is a way to find the icons (which are hidden) using the DOS prompt and typing ATTRIB -h *.ico in the IE temp folder to show hidden files, then copy the icons to a new folder. After that, assign each URL to an icon in the new created folder ..
Obviously this process can take some time ..

I thought this program could this faster ...

PS. I didn`t do the above but i read it somewhere when i was interested in this subject.

I use AM-Deadlink to restore the icons in the favorite folder.
You can't get there from here
