Why does this lock IE 6?
Anytime I try to execute the below link, (or any one like it), IE 6 locks up on me. Been searching for a fix for this for several months now. Anyone have any suggestions?

Just noticed it shows up as 2 links on here, when executed from a link spot on a web page, it executes as link. I can copy and paste the entire thing into address bar at it will work, but when it is selected, ie as button, it locks IE 6. This is hard to explain!! Maybe someone will see what I am talking about...Last edited by awwall; February 3rd, 2003 at 09:16 AM.

I was a sucker and visited that link. Hope nothing whacky was planned.
Have you triied just http://www.yahooligans.com/docs/tdih/ ?
Also, if you don't really need this link and it doesn't happen anywhere else, i would forget it.

Yes..I have all the updates to IE and am running W2K with all service packs.
Let me try to further explain...
Go to this URL: http://www.geocities.com/hyack61/index.html
Here you will see a button labeled "This Day in History". If I click on this it will lock IE up. I can copy and paste the URL attached to it into the address bar and it works fine. It's only when I click on the button. This just an example...any page that has a link like this and I try to use it, it will lock up IE. I don't know what king of link this is...is it a "redirect" or what...I can't do a search on this problem because I don't know what to call it.
I tried to explain this in my first post...Even though the link in my forst post looks like a single URL, it is actually 2 combined..I think.
Have I made it any clearer? Any suggestions please!

Those are redirected links. To fix it, delete your current host file.

Nob, works fine for me too in Opera 7. Tried deleting HOSTS file as suggested above, but IE6 still locks up when I click on the button.
Any other suggestions, please..
