    ATA / linux issues

I am trying to multiboot my system with XP and linux. So far im having good luck but im having a problem that i didnt think of before

i have a Soyo KT400 ultra Mobo, which has onboard raid.

I couldnt get Red Hat to install unless i unplugged everything from the raid controllers. If i didnt i got this message repetedly "HDG: lost interupt" and the same message with "HDe" when i had one or the other drives plugged into the raid.

Note: i have the raid function set to ATA in the bios i do not have a raid array.

im running linux now but i had to unlug the burner from its IDE channel and disconnect the other harddrive(the one i have my windows install on) from the raid/ATA socket.

HOW DO I GET THIS TO WORK?

    please help,

    -Scott

My guess would be to recompile support for your RAID card into the kernel.

    Sorry, that wasn't very helpful.
What RAID chip is it on the board?

    hello,
when it asks for any extra kernel parameters - try passing nodma - i had a very similar proplem with a promise controller, personally i think the controller was hosed on my system.

here is a pretty good read on the subject

Odds are very good there are several spelling mistakes in this post.
