Hello...
I have QuarkExpress for Windows and I just bought a marketing kit that comes with sample brochures and newsletters and things in Quark format.
But the problem is that it's a Mac Quark format. The CD that came with the kit has images also on it, and I can see all the image directories and view the images, but can't see the part of the CD that has the Mac formatted documents on it.
My question is three-fold:
1. Is there a way I can open the documents with my windows computer? If not, then what about on linux?
2. Is it possible to put the CD in a Mac, then either copy the files via network to the PC, so I can open them in Quark?
3. Can I put the CD in a Mac, then open them up in a Mac version of QuarkExpress, then save them as a 'windows compatible' format for either Quark or some other program, and transfer over the network?
Thanks for any ideas and suggestions!!
David
On a sidenote...
I've heard people talking about Mac emulators. Is that something that might be able to get the documents off of the CD and onto the hard drive?

well the easiest way to do this is to put the cd in a mac and make
a pc format cd...macs can read both sides..pc's cant..or if you have both machines on a network..just transfer them over..from mac to pc

Hey, thanks for replying!!
It'll be easy for me to get a friend's mac and hook the comps together to transfer the file. I am just wanting to know if I can just do a file transfer and be able to open the mac quark file in a windows version of quark. Do you know if I can? Thanks! |

Actually you should be able to open to file without changing anything..... I do it all the time....you just need to know which file to open as Mac files not necesarely use the QXD extension
Also you migth have problems after you open the file 'cause it won't find the linked files (if any) and also the fonts on PC are different....but I guess you can find the images (again they might not have any extension at all) and you can replace the fonts by something else....
So, the conclusion is : in theory you CAN open a Mac file on the PC, it might not be practical though... |
