oh yeah, I seen that the other night on the mandrake site. I think thats what keeps most people from going completely to linux and leaving windows behind.
I 've used WineX & posted about it a few times Its just a version of Wine with some dirext X support bolted on the end AFAIK.
It works OK & let me play Half-life (but with glitches, buggy sound & graphical corruption).
However this is an emulator so I wouldn't expect it to be completely stable or give the best performance
A handy tool to try but the real solution IMHO is to convince games publishers/developers that creating native linux games is a viable option (or hybrids like Q3 or UT that will run on both).
There is also a good thread at www.linuxnewbie.org about using WineX, I will try & find it when I get a minute.
I am off to play RTCW MP demo
