Can I put 2nd OS on slave drive

Can I install Win 98 on my slave drive and be able to boot from it? Currently running W2K on master which is NTFS. Slave is Fat 32. Some harware and programs I have do not run on W2K. If so, how do I go about doing it?

Thanks,
Bill

if you were installing 98 first on the master drive, and 2k second on the slave drive, yes it would work, but in the way you want to do it, i dont know
if you do tell 98 to install on the slave disk, it will likely overwrite the mbr and mess up your 2k install
maybe someone else will have some ideas

I don't think it won't work the way you want to do it. I believe Win9x operating systems only work right if they are installed on the master (or only drive, if there is only one hard drive connected.)

What I would suggest (although it will take some time) is to setup the drives Win98-master, Win2000-slave. Then install or reinstall Windows 98 on the master and install or reinstall Windows 2000 and make sure you install to the slave. Doing it this way it will work, and the Windows 2000 boot manager will add a line for Windows 98 in the boot menu.

I have nothing to lose on either drive. This system is one I built to screw around with on my network. If I kill it, no harm, no foul! I'm using it as a learning experience.
