why does my system take so long to load web page
i have a friend who has an emachines. model t4150 with winxp.
it takes almost 5 minutes or more for a web page to load and the web pages don't load fully.
how do i correct this problem?
not sure of system specs but i know it is a 1.5ghz with a cdrw and 256mb ram and modem(don't know what brand) and an ethernet card.
she connects using dial-up and earthlink isp.
she told me that she had a power outage last night. and now the system doesn't load the pages fully and the time on the clock is 3 hours behind.

This started happening after the power outage, right? Could it be possible that the PCI modem got fried during the power outage? If she has another modem lying around or one that she can borrow, I think it may be a good idea to see if that is the problem. 5 minutes to load a single page sounds rediculous!

i hooked her system up to my dsl modm. the pages loaded faster but not completely.
when u hold the cursor over different sections of the page that is when the other links show up.

So portions that you put the mouse over shows? Sounds like a browser problem maybe... Try going to Tools\Internet Options\Advanced and press "Default Options" and then closing all browser windows and then try it again...
