    hello,
if the hard drive is already full i would resize the partitions as you suggested. You will need a minimum of three partitions - one for winme, one for linux filesystem and one for linux swap - whcih should be about the same size as the amount of memory you have.

install windows 1st then redhat. Here is a small helpfile which i hope helps.

Odds are very good there are several spelling mistakes in this post.

Which version of Partition Magic, and Red Hat Linux do u have?

If you have Red Hat 7.2: Click HERE
If you have Red Hat 7.1: Click HERE
Otherwise just check the generalized Red Hat Linux Manuals
    HERE
Heres some good info on the steps to partitioning HERE and HERE

what exactly does the error say?
Did you configure LILO, your boot manager?

I'm checking on the How-To's for that one, hold on...

Well, now that you're here, I would suggest using your WinME boot-up disk and insert your Red Hat installation CD.
Now, I use Linux Mandrake 8, but I'm sure the interfaces are somewhat the same...tell me what u get when your computer boots up w/the WinME startup disk inserted...u should get a screen that asks whether or not to allow for CD-ROM support...do this ( you should have ur ReD Hat Linux Installation CD already inserted into ur CD drive). Tell me if any of this works, and what u get...

They are two different distributions of the same OS: Linux
Kind of like 2 different fast food chains: McDonalds & Burger King...they both make hamburgers (LINUX), but they're just made differently!

I prefer Linux Mandrake 8.1, check out my review of it HERE

I suggest you read my review to have that question fully answered...but here's a tidbit of what i had to say: "Mandrake is still the best Distribution of choice for a first time user, and especially for desktop users or windows converts. The ease of install will be a welcome thing to them"
I list and descibe some key attributes of the system as well.

RedHat to me, has better support and is used mainly more for Larger businesses and companies that use/sell Servers systems and need a specific OS to accompany these servers...good example is DELL, and how they offer Red Hat on some of their server based systems.

I tried what u said and it didnt work so i dont know what i am going to do except i might get Mandrake ...............

If you have any more suggestions or how-tos i would like to see them to get this to work..........But if Mandrake is easier to install then i will try it...................

Im going to bed hope i get a lot of Replys later........

Good Luck, I'll be back to check up on this one!
I surely recommend Linux Mandrake 8.1
