How do I make my mouse single click and open items in Windows XP?

Also is there a way to make the quick launch toolbar longer? In other words I want it to show more than 3 items.

Open Control Panel and click on "Appearance and Themes". Then go to "Folder Options" and on the first tab (General), the last group titled "Click items as follows", select the first option.

To make the quick launch task bar display more than three items, right click on it and uncheck "Lock the Taskbar".

Does Windows XP disable Java in IE by default? and if so how do I re-enable it?

I think I figured it out. I installed Sun's J2SE 1.4.1 and that seemed to fix my problem. I am guessing they removed Java from IE in Windows XP?

MS Java VM was removed from xp at request of sun, you can get suns vm from their site - as you already did.
