I am running Windows XP SP1a and I downloaded some UT2003 player made movies I want to watch but when I try to run them Windows Media Player 9 tries to download codecs but fails so all that I get is audio. Any ideas what the problem may be and how to fix it? |

Personally, I gave up on the Windows Media player9 as I constantly experienced issues like the one you described.I just did a system restore yesterday.WM8 still good enough for me. |

Find the restore point on your calendar then take the previous day. |

the whole deal with WMP9 is bullony. WMP9 DOES NOT spy on you, but IT WILL if you allow it to. when you install if you leave all those checks in the options part, it will send info back to MS. check your facts before you go nuts.
sounds to me like you need the right codec, which you haven't installed yet. check around on google, your bound to come up with something

| Most people shouldn't have to.It should already be in the install.Windows Media 8 had it.I had it in my pc with WM8. I installed Media 9 and the things I used to see are gone and cant watch them again. I do a system restore and I get everything back,,,, Go Figure!!!!Do you know how many people who are PC illiterate including myself and I built my own computer.I don't know diddly about XP or any software inside other than formatting and loading.
I ahd a problem with it when it was a beta and still have a problem with it since.I had to download it first when the Halo 2 trailor came out. A mess then as well.
