    Easy Cd

Im reinstalling my OS soon and need to backup my hdd. The problem is I dont have a burrner in my computer yet. Im having to burn over the network. I tried from my computer to a remote burrner but no luck. Now I want to burn from the remote computer but what is the best way? I have easy cd creator 3.01a on this computer. Is there a way to burn a backup like can be done with norton ghost? Or does ghost burn a backup from a remote computer?

What is the best way to backup 30gig with a 2x burner?

    30 gig=about 60 cds on a 2x burner at 15 min a cd is 15 hours of straight burning.

Map a drive to the pc that you want to backup. Copy 650 megs at a time over. Burn it. Repeat until done.

Are you looking to make a back up in terms of putting it back just like it is or to just save data?

Both backup of data and restoreable backup.

ghost or drive image can dump an image over the network for you. ive used both for that reason and they work fine. tricky part is just getting the right dos driver and get it working at boot time(for ghost @least). just do "disk to image"

edit: if youre reinstalling there's no need to dump an image. why not just back up your data over the network via copy and paste thru net neighborhood?

Because I want to be able to restore my OS when my copy of Win2k3 expires in 3 months.

I believe he is wanting to make a backup because he is installing another OS, if this is the same issue as another thread.

If you want to restore to as it is now, ghost or something similar is the best way to go. If you have enough space on the other machine you can use it, otherwise I would just get another drive and do a dump to it.

Backing up just your data is by far the most efficient way to do this rather than using media on thing that you have on CD like games, proggies, and the OS. Backup your mail and documents and whatnot then start with a clean install if you need to.

Is your computer's HD partitioned, or are there 2 drives, if so, use ghost, you can image a drive to the second drive/partition, then reboot and fire the image over the network, Or just leave it on your second partition to restore from there.

Partitioned. I think what I will do is resize my second partitoin to 40gb and move the contents of the primary partiton (C over to it then do a clean install.
