| Windows 2000 Product key not serial number
Hello there everyone.
I need my windows 2000 product key. This is the 25 Alpha numerical Characters.
I have found my serial number in the registery but was unable to locate my product key.
I read some articls and I used a software called Belarc Advisor and it only found the serial number not the product key.
I got a good article again it pointed to some software called WinRetrieve and it was great but It sayed my windows 2000 prodcut key is hidden.
My only question is what is my product key.
My other question if I cant retrive it can I convert the serial number to a product key.
Some background.
I installed my windows 2000 professional from a MSDN Development Platform CD. This cd basically doesnt need a Prdocut Key to be installed. So I didnt make too much notice. This cd was given to me when I worked at a training center. Anyway point is that when you install a system with it it doesnt need for you to enter a product key.
And therefore I dont need it.
Now the problem.
I need to use a software called Stomb Backup MYPC and for it to effectively do a prober Disaster recover bootable CD it needs the Windows 2000 Product Key. WHICH I DONT HAVE.
So please.....HELP.
THank you:eek: |

There's a program called AIDA and it shows the product code. Whether it works in win2k I don't know.

Just right click the "my computer " icon on your desktop. select properties, in the box under "registered to" you will see the product key.
Copy it down for further use elsewhere.

Vern | That's not the serial number he's talking about and besides it's only 20 characters long |

Nope. It's not the product key.
But vserlnv is right! AIDA does show your Product Key! Which really amazes me, because I thought it was impossible to pull up your Product Key under Win2K. |

Hehe. I guess I should have reloaded the page before I posted. That first part you quoted was in response to vern's post, not yours.
Edit: Just downloaded keyfinder, and yep... it does indeed work on Win2K.
