cant log on to admin account

could someone please help me as i cant access my administers account. It was alright yersterday but today my norton 2002 firewall disabled and norton AV 2003 does not acctivate auto protect or email scanning.I think i'v tried everything my OS is XP home,AMD Athlon 2200+ 1.8Ghz processor, 256 mb40gb(HD).If i cant resolve this problem i'm going to do a full format as i dont now what else to do.

Err.. Why can't you login with admin account?

That information would help the troubleshooting alot.

yeah why can't you login? and how do you know that norton firewall and norton AV are disabled if you can't login?

or are you using a non admin account?

did you forget the password for the admin account?

Need more info..

I could logon to my account,I had admin privileges 04/06/03 got 1 email on 05/06/03 then no admin privileges and AV and firewall deactivated and couldnt reactivate as i had no admin privileges then my computer would crash every time i booted. thx for any response, :-(

What error do you get when you try to log in with the admin account?

the only problem i am getting is that everything was alright then i put my PC on then my firewall and AV was switched off.And the error message when tried to activate firewall and AV the message said that i didnt have the privileges to perform these tasks. I was told that it could be a new virus. :-(

Ok, we know that you cant log in with the admin account, and your user account doesnt have enough juice to start the services that are now stopped.

But the key question still remains of what error do you get when you try to log in? Write the error message down if need be. Also, from your user account can you look at the event logs and see if there are any clues in there?

Can you get into msconfig and startup and look for anything that is RUNDLL there is a new virus that spells it Rundlle or something like that and I was told there is no fix yet it could be a shot in the dark but worth a look!

Go into safe mode, and try to run Antivirus there..

if you are able to do that, then maybe it will detect and delete the virus, if any.

went into safe mode and done a scan and everything came back OK,but i still couldnt get by the welcome screen in normal mode so i have just formatted my HD and if it was a new virus that done that to my puter.Then i hope to F**k it doesn't happen again. And guys thx for the input. :-)
