Maybe try to sheild your puter with foil and see if it still does it, or wrap the cat in foil

Say, the cat isn't a feline version of one of those Sony robo-dogs is it? It could explain a lot.

It also explains what ECP is... Eccentric Cat Port

This thread is toooooo funny

Have you tried checking your cats firmware version I have heard there may be interferences caused from firmware versions 2.23 or previous and the linux operating system. Your local vet should have an appropriate firmware update for your feline...... My sisters cat is currently running firmware Version 3.46 Beta

i updated the cats bios to 12.89beta but it still does it all the time, tried switching the monitor off and all my speak and unplugged them , even switched my 19inch monitor to my other 15inch tft stil does it! switched off ir-port and have under-clocked my cpu , tried different fsb speeds , i even tried to wrap the cat in tin-foil but he bit me , so no linux for me today boys. i guessill have to give up and install it on my lowly laptop and see if its ok on there!
i think that i messed the cat door up before though as it lost power during a bios flash but it has a dual bios so im ok!
do you think they might swap my cat for a faster model with beef and jelly instructions and advanced buiscuit cache? i dunno im well stuck!

the kemp - I stongly suggest you avoid the beef and jelly instructions. Might have BSE, which can cause problems for your brain.

Anyone work this thing out yet??

This situation is beyond strage but anything can happen. I do have a question do you have any wireless routers or adapters connected to your machine? Also since you have Mandrake 8.1, it does have an option for ADSL to be connected on startup, maybe your dsl modem is causing the problem.

Maybe the efficient use of system ram by Linux is creating unforseen EMI emmissions.

I seriously doubt this is EMI dudes. Try seeing if there are any linux drivers for this door. Do a google search on the model or something. It'll probably be there. This IS the internet after all.

Install WINE ( www.winehq.com ) and see if you can install the windows drivers on linux. Or program instead of drivers.

Maybe you should buy a treadmill for the cat and wire it to the door so that everytime you use linux, the cat loses 2 pounds. Worth a shot.
