Make sure you've updated your cat to the latest drivers from the manufaturer, and certainly check the power supply on the door for Linux compatibility.
You might need to recompile the kernal with the latest "feline access" module, whicch is still in beta.
Finally, if all else fails, nail a stuffed penguin to the actual door. That should scare the little beggar off! |

no , the cat door is downstairs lets them in at night and stuff. they have a little magnetic thing on their collar that sets it off when they go near it so they can get it and other cats with out the magnetic thingy cannot. when i run linux somehow it effects my hardware that makes this cat door open and close. my p.c is about 10 metres away from it and has no radio devices on it ie: 802 or bluetooth etc! |

really??? if so i am sure i have heard of everything....
Okay i think your moniter should be the biggest source of emi stuff around. i would try shutting it off and seeing what happens. If it stops then try a different setting for the moniter while in linux.
how the hell is this cat door controlled? are there serial lines going to it?
BTW - is this cat door made in Redmond WA - USA ?
What type of cat do you have? Does this cat prefer Mandrake, RedHat, Debian or Suse?

Try changing the refresh rate on the monitor for Linux.
The other thing to try is plugging the cat door into a different outlet, if you can.
