| Equation editor in Office
I need to install equation editor on several computers that already have Office installed on them. Only one was installed with Equation Editor.
On the computer that has it installed I can find the EE program in c:\program files\common files\microsfot shared\equation
I have copied this folder to a computer lacking the EE program. It lets me run EE seperate, but it will not let me inster it as an object in a word document.
When I run EE it tries to install, but won't because it wants to see the Office disk. It is looking for an .msi file.
Any ideas on how to get EE to run on the other computers? |

This should work:
Quit Microsoft Word and all other Microsoft Office applications.
On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
On the Install/Uninstall tab, click to select Microsoft Word 2000 (Microsoft Office 2000) and click Add/Remove.
Click Add or Remove Features.
Click Equation Editor and select Run from My Computer.
Click Update Now.
OK?

Jn: That won't work. When you click Add Remove features... it wants to see the installation disks.
Any other ideas anyone? |

| Then Pop in the disk!
Doh unless this is a "pirated version"?
If so you will need to visit elsewhere as we dont support Warez here. |

Mntsnow: I am shocked you would assume such a thing!! =)
But that is not the case. I have inherited the control of a small network (6 computers of various pedigree). The computers belong to the student branch of ASAE (The Society for Engineering in Agriculural, Food and Biological Systems, AKA American Society of Ag Engineers). All of the software installed on these computers is legit. However, the original installation disks have wandered off. All told, there are 3 different versions of Office installed on the different computers, and the only set of installation disks I have are for the one computer that has Office 2000 on it. I believe the ones giving me problems have Office 97 premium (I am just now home for the holiday).
Only 1 of the 6 computers has EE on it and with all the technical writing we do, that computer is in hot demand. I had the same problem with Solver in Excel, but I was able to install it the on the other 5 computers with out the installation disks.
I know a quick and easy solution is to just reinstall my copy of Office 97 onto the computers. However that would be illegal so I am steering clear. I have also tried using my copy of 97 to just install EE (mot illegal?), but it will not use my disk because it is not the premium version.
BTW, I am looking for an ISA or PCI NIC with BNC connections if you had one laying around that you would like to donate. I have my hands on an old ISA NIC but for the life of me I can not get it work. I have even tried putting it into a computer with the same NIC with no luck. I think it might be dead. So 1 of the 6 computers isn't on the network =(
