1) Do you use Zone Alarm?
2) Do you have antivirus software on this pc?
3) Look in your event logs to see if there are any warnings or errors. To do that goto the Control Panel, select Administrative Tools, Goto the Event Viewer. Look through each log and post the Event ID and the warning or error message here.
4) When this happens again, press Ctrl+Alt+Del and choose task manager. Click the applications tab. You should see a list of apps you have running. Try killing Internet Explorer instead of shuting down your pc. |

I have also the same problem and I'm going crazy. When I read the log file in the adminsitrative tools it says the following message related with the error:
"The time service is now synchronizing the system time with the time source time.nist.gov (ntp.m|0x1|195.174.164.148:123->192.43.244.18:123)."
I have the latest version of norton antivirus with up- to- date virus definitions. I have scanned my drives but norton could not find any infected file and I'm sure that my computer doesn't contain msblast virus. Could you please help me. |

Probably the msblast worm.
If it doesn't completely crash the computer, the service only fails - and disables much of the windows functionality.
You should probably try and run some msblast cleaning utility, or do a housecall ( http://housecall.trendmicro.com). |
