    WinXP: Remove The Animated Mutt From Search

     
    Open Search , For Files or Folders...
    On the Search Companion view, drag the scroll bar down until you see Change preferences button. Click on Without an animated screen charactor.

    Or you can pick one of the other screen charactors offered by clicking on With a different character button.
