Win XP/Shutdown Problem

ok well i just installed windows xp on my machine saturday, i did an upgrade from win2000, yeah i know i should have done the clean install, but i didnt think of that till later...will do next time...anyways i can't shutdown the computer for the life of me...like it goes through all the shutdown screen, and when it should like "you may shutdown your computer" or whatever it says on xp, it restarts the computer instead... is something screwed up on the registry from win2000? :stumped:

XP has alot of update/patches/fixes out for it. one of the patches is to fix a xp shutdown problem. do the windows update and install the updates/patches/fixes that your system needs.

Have you got Roxio EZCD5 installed, OOC? My XP machine did the exact same thing as soon as I installed that and none of the patches repaired it. Though I have it on both machines here at work and both shutdown fine... <boggle>

i have new system with xp pro installed and it takes forever to shut down, like about a minute from the "windows is shutting down" screen to actual moniter shutoff. is this normal or is there a patch for this also?

ok well i dont know which did it,but i fixed both and it works now.. it doesnt take too long to shutdown on this 450, just like win98 and all...
um question, anyone way to make the computer actually turn off like win98 when you hit shutdown?
thanks for all the help!
