New Desktop Item???
A new folder appeared on my desktop awhile back and I was wondering why it's there and what it's for.
It's labeled desktop.ini and inside it contains this;
[LocalizedFileNames]Windows Media Player.lnk=@C:\WINDOWS\inf\unregmp2.exe,-4
The obvious is the link to WMP but the rest is ???? to me.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hmm. That's a legit file, but it shouldn't be on your desktop. It should be in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Start Menu\.
You can't fix stupidity.

I thought it might belong somewhere, thought I should check here before deleting it.
I'll check and see if that file exists in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Start Menu\.
Thanks Six

The only desktop.ini file under the C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Start Menu\ has this in it
[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@shell32.dll,-21786
Keep in mind that I know almost nothing about these types of files.

Opps, I take that back as I just found another file (searching manually) with the first and second desktop info plus info for IE, OE and Remote Assistance.
Safe to delete this file or do you think it should be moved and if so where?
