i would not call people that use MS products stupid either...i used to use them myself and still do for games...and i use windows and ms office in the EE labs.
I agree with you Hockey that they are doing what is in the business' best interest...but i still don't like it. Afterall MS is in a position no other business is in. While they don't *technically* posses a monompoly, let's admit it, they do. Except for the Tech savvy and those few Mac addicts, the normal person is required to use Windows. As for Office OpenOffice doesn't have any commercial involvement (has anyone seen a commercial for it? or even seen it in a store?), and Word Perfect is more for the Business environment, so i would say 90% of the computer using public doesn't even know there is an alternative.
Another example: CD's are expensive...but people still buy them. Does that mean that the RIAA is not being unethical?
Unfortunately Computers are unlike any other product really..the vast majority of the consumer based is so underinformed that it makes it incredibly easy for Microsoft to take advantage of it. Even the car market isn't like this becaus a) they actually have competition and b) people are at least somewhat more knowledgable about cars than computers. |

software gives so much pleasure for customers. it makes them happy all the time, when their work is done, right on time. When there is a need of a program, then there will be satisfaction with the service that it brings. When there is a want of a program, then we would start saying its expensive and not worthed etc.
Some people would suggested that doing something like productivity is entertaining. But some would go and play computer games instead and vice versa. That is what I've learned a bit from the past

one thing to consider though is that microsoft pretty much has the market cornered. i'm wanting to switch totally over to linux but i don't know enough and if i did, not that many programs run on it. i think all of these companys team up together, for example, the newest and best games run mainly on microsoft and are targeted for microsoft os's. i think people need to do away with microsoft and go apple myself! we really need another choice.

i want xp pro but it's soooo expensive still, and i hate bill gates, rich s.o.b. i'm going apple, not as many patches to download and they're faster, only mainstreem 32bit 64bit extension os, (maybe linux has a flavor that offers that, they probably do, maybe beOS).

You people make no sense! You gripe and moan about Microsoft and Bill Gates, who has a monopoly in the software market, and then turn around and say you are going to Apple and Steve Jobs, who has a monopoly on software AND hardware at the same time! |
