Restore files changed by virus in Win2K
My friend built a machine , ran it for a couple weeks without virus protection. So when he installed AVG on it AVG found several viruses. They were sent to the virus vault, but from the names of the files, they appear to be system files, are they system files ALTERED by the viruses? I think so. So how do we restore those files? Run setup off the Win2K disk? AVG cant clean or heal them apparently.

What the heck was he running without virus protection for!!!??? It just goes to show you that the people out there that are creating the viruses don't care about anything but their kicks.
P.S. You should've known better Duke!

go through system information, tools, windows, then system file checker. win2k shoudl have replaced the files automatically (or prevented them from being changed) but this might be able to restore the files properly...
