Ok I was tweaking my registry and found this:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERS/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/INTERNET EXPLORER/MAIN
Look for NotifyDownloadComplete and change the value to "NO"

Just wondering if you did a search for the file before you start d/l again, maybe in some temp file somewhere. |

yeah but I dont think that setting is going to help though. It seems IE downloads stuff to the Temp directory first and then moves it to wherever you want it so on large downloads you will see it moving the file. When that box pops up for a large file if you are typing and hit space or enter it will press the only button that is on the pop up box which is cancel... Smooth move Microsoft... hmmm any other ideas?

Not the same thing he's talking about, PyroSama. He's saying that the OS displayed a message window notifying him that it was transfering the d/l from it's temp file to the destination location. Apparently it had a "cancel" radio button that was inadvertently clicked when the new window popped to the top of what he was already working in and the transfer was lost. BTW, you might be able to find that file if you look hard enogh unless it was in the swap.

So, how do you find that particular box in XP to either make it not run or remove the radio button? |

if you had looked the file would probably have still been in a temp folder somewhere. it may still be. i'd do a search for large files. also i'd suggest getright download manager. i've used it for years and it's great. |
