Unable to open url links

I have recently encountered a strange situation. Whenever I use IE and attempt to open a link listed on the page. IE will open the page in a new window but the window will be blank. Nothing on the page, no url. My workaround this problem is to go to the link, right click it, go to properties, then copy the url address.
This works but it gets to be a bit of a drag. Any suggestions ?

So you are saying this could be a worm on my system.
I ran AVG anti-virus and did not detect anything. Hmm?

ok might been a little premature on my response. I re-read the link you provided, seems it pertains to email. I am not having any problems with my email, other than spam. When I use IE, I am able to open sites, but links are a different story.

thanks, I have run spybot on various occasions......did not detect anything

have you used kazaa at all

yes, used Kaaza before, dont use it any more. Virus checker (either AVG or Nortons) did detect of virus and was able to place them in quaratine

download the free stinger and run that too...
