| how do you boot a program from your harddrive?
I installed Microsoft encarta spanish on my comp, I didn't like it though because you have to put the cd in each time you use the program, so I copied the cd to my harddrive, i then double clicked on setup icon and it says there's no disk in the cd rom. How can I make this work from my harddrive? |

The .exe is looking for the cd.
Short of a cracked .exe you are out of luck. In any case you won't find help with circumventing that here. Sorry. |

Altering the program is illegal in the US.
It that an OLD program, or a new one? I have found that if I copy the CD to the HD into a certain folder, then install the program usung the files ON THE HARDDRIVE, then when I run the program it looks for the folder on the HD and not the CD.
This is not a sure-fire method, but it has worked before. Sadly, you have to leave that folder on your HD, can't delete it.

you might have to re-install the program from the mounted image to get it working |

just an update: I installed the virtual drive ware from link above, and it worked okay the first time, but after that it took forever, so i downloaded alcohol 120% as suggested above as well and it was lightning fast, worked great.... |
