October Finished Anime

Posted October 21st, 2007 at 08:21 PM by carl33p
Recently finished a few animes, and I thought I would give some personal opinions on them. No spoilers will be included; so if you comment, try not to reveal anything as well.

Lucky Star - Quite an entertaining comedy. Different from the norm, with an amazing OP. Some topics are overused throughout, but lots of laughs none-the-less. No drama or unnecessary emotional scenes, so its was relaxing to watch.
I would expect a few OVAs to follow.

Lovely Complex - Perfect fusion of romance and comedy. On the same level as Ouran HHC. I wasnt a fan of the ending, but because it wasnt your average high school romance, it ranks high with me. The first ED was really good.

Romeo x Juliet - I liked it. I would think many will get bored with it though. I havent actually seen the last few eps, since there was a C&D letter for it. (First C&D ever sent before an anime didnt finish.) Not as much drama as I would of liked, and I wasnt much a fan of the OPs and EDs.

Hitohira - I actually finished this one a little while ago. Its only 12 eps long. It was ok; I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. Not funny, very little romance, no action.... Besides the decent animation it didnt have much going for it. Overdramatized scenes.

Voices of a Distant Star - To be completely honest: HORRIBLE. Granted its only 30minutes long, which is almost impossible to shape a plot. But its slow moving, so it has no chance. I dont really see what others saw in this.
If it were 6eps long, I could see it being decent with its plot. But it wasnt. Maybe it was b/c I was expecting ALOT more from it.

Nana - Twist and turns. A very good drama, with some music scenes. 47 eps is long, but I was always yearning for the next ep. The first OP and ED songs are some of my favorites. They are ~20 years old, so its not your school drama.
Nana L.A. If you liked the anime, you will love it. Scenes are recreated perfectly. Most of the characters are good matches.

Shakugan no Shana Movie - Just a recap movie. But if you havent seen the first season since it ended, a year or two ago, you'll enjoy it.

The reason it might seem as if I give good reviews to the majority, is b/c I have a tendancy to NOT finish anime that I dont absolutely love. Especially at this time of the year, when there are so many to choose from.
