Where did my motivation go?

Posted September 24th, 2007 at 10:42 AM by GroundZero3
So in the beginning of September I finished up my MCSA 2003. Something im very happy and proud of because it took almost eight months to complete and stuck with it. (I have a real problem with patience, when I want something I want it now)

So now im onto my CCNP exams, im very excited to start this exam but I don’t really have any motivation. I look at the material, most of it I don’t have experience with and im wondering if im getting in over my head. Over the last couple of weeks I have been glancing at the material off and on and sometimes “accidentally” leaving my book at home. I guess I miss the days where I would spend countless hours playing Counterstrike or Day of Defeat without a care in the world. I do know that if I want to advance my skills, pay, position, comfort in living, etc this would be the right step.

I guess everyone needs to some sort of break which I have been doing over the last couple of weeks off and on. Doesn’t seem like it with martial arts three times a week and working out 6 days a week. Lol

Either way i need to collect some equipment so i can start learning on my CCNP. Hopefully i can find some newer gear around the office.

It sounds like you could use a little personal time for reflection and relaxation. You are likely being overloaded. Stress can quickly sneak up on you.

If you have the time available, a few days off might be a good idea. No work. No martial arts. No studying. No projects. No long-distance travel. No online gaming. No stress. In other words, a few days to slow down and relax.

I really do need to do that, however the next two months are gonna be crazy on the weekends. I'm going up to my Dad's next weekend for a martial arts seminar. Then im helping a friend move her crap from here to Boston (yay 10.5 hour drive), then im going back to Boston to visit and have fun, going to KY for a weekend in Nov, going to my dad's again for my niece's and nephew birthday, and Vegas for thanksgiving.

lol

Once November ends ill get back to some sort of normal life where ill actually be home. I cant wait for the end of December, going on a cruise

This weekend im gonna take it easy and just lounge around.

we're just going to miss eachother in vegas! I'll leave a nice note for you in a bathroom stall.

You seem very non-stop action, if you don't feel dragged down, I saw rock forward full force.

The lack of motivation shouldnt be an issue, unless you're misdiagnosing a lack of interest. That is what would be dangerous. If you're not interested in the material, then you might be doing the wrong thing. If you just not feeling motivated, keep with it and you'll get a spurt of productivity eventually.
