My Lawsuit Against Mahalo.com Looks Inevitable

As posted in my previous blog I've been fighting with Mahalo.com to be paid for work done back in October and November. I made pretty much every attempt possible to reach an agreement and avoid going through the court process. But things never got ironed out. And with less than a week remaining the chances of them paying up are beginning to look fairly dim.

If you want to get caught up on the full story its all covered over in My Blog.

My last contact with them was back on Jan 10th, which basically led us no where. I kindly informed them that every single page they are refusing to pay me for is still in use on their site, still under my name, and not altered at all!

Edit: 1/31/08 today was their last day to pay up and there was no resolution or any further contact. So it looks like I get to go through the tortures of the legal system.

Wow... I was going to write articles for them too, it looked too good to be true. I had a whole lot of changes and updates to make. I wanted to improve the surfing and skydiving areas articles way back when. I can't believe they didn't give you your due, my friend. It has been a few years since your post... any news to report?

I haven't been on the site in years and haven't talked to anyone that I know that was working with them so I don't know how things are going over there now days. But I know they changed up things a lot since I left.

We went to court, the day before we went they wanted to file for mediation which pissed off the judge. In the end though I lost the case. Either the judge didn't understand the way things were working over there or I just didn't make my case.

When we first started we got paid for all of our articles, that wasn't an issue. We got elevated to basically regular paid employees and were proofing articles, contributing editors of sorts. That was when it all went wrong.

edit: Just to throw this in there. I've visited some of the pages that they didn't want to pay us for working on or working with the writers and making contributions to and some of them are still basically identical to the ones we accepted. Sadly most of them haven't been updated much either.

I've talked to a few people that were working on some of the Q/A parts of the site when they first launched that and they said it was a big time racket. They were taking a major cut of all payments for questions answered, then taking a cut for payments and all kinds of junk.
