  1. Cheese For Fusion?

by , July 3rd, 2008 at 11:49 AM (Automatic Explosions)
And you always thought the moon was made of cheese, didn't you? It turns out that there's an estimated one million tons of a form of helium, H3, just kicking around up there. What's the big deal? Where to start...

First, there's estimated to be about 15 tons of H3 on Earth. 15 vs a one and six zeroes. This makes H3 a valuable commodity on Earth. But it makes the moon even more valuable for entrepeneurial pursuits, because, seriously, a million is a lot more than 15.

  2. 1) NIN 2) Google Earth 3) ... 4) Profit?

Nine Inch Nails, along with Radiohead, is one of a handful of popular music acts leading the way into the future of content distribution. Having both released albums for free (or whatever you felt it was worth) via only digital delivery, they are turning the heads of every aspect of the media delivery cycle.

While I definitely approve of all this awesomeness (BTW, Ghosts I-IV and The Slip are both ridicu-good), another interesting thing NIN has produced caught my eye today. Based ...

  3. Hellgate: London, Day Two

by , November 7th, 2007 at 09:45 PM (Automatic Explosions)
Shortly after my first post, I made a new character and took the evoker class. I was quite fond of it, to be honest. All the class skills I have so far are FPS type range attacks. They also get some gnarly looking armor and weapons.

A couple things I want to touch on here. First, the weapon system is actually pretty cool, even if it's pretty much just a new version of the gem/rune system from Diablo. Most of the weapons after the first few missions in the game have slots where you ...

  4. Hellgate: London Mini-review

by , November 5th, 2007 at 02:28 PM (Automatic Explosions)
So, true to my lack of financial responsibility, I made off with a copy of Hellgate: London this morning. Previously seen on the demo, short.

I thought there were only three playable classes in the game, but it turns out there are five. Blademaster, hunter, evoker, summoner, and guardian. I think that's all of them anyway. I wanted the DPS feel so I chose hunter.

As a side note, I did play both a blademaster and hunter through the demo. Blademaster is fun, but even ...

  5. LG Electronics 50PY3D, Computer Monitor?

by , September 19th, 2007 at 03:51 PM (Automatic Explosions)
I finally got around to testing the TV as a computer monitor this week. My initial impression was to be quite impressed.

1920x1080 native resolution makes for a very nice desktop, and the TV handled the finer points quite well. Text was nice and clear, with no muddied areas that I could see, which is something I noticed on just about every 1366x768 monitor I used, something I attributed to having to run 1366x760 on the video output for whatever reason.

    The one thing ...

  6. XM Finally Gets Universal

by , September 18th, 2007 at 05:24 PM (Automatic Explosions)
I've been saying for a while now that the methods involved in connecting an XM tuner to most OEM audio head units and even aftermarket units is far too dumb. Various makers have had special units out, Pioneer and Eclipse are two that I've dealt with, but their solutions were typically costly. Enter Audiovox's universal programmable adapter.

The CNP2000UC is here to make our installing lives easier, as well as giving the aftermarket crowd a better option set. The unit is, all said ...

  7. LG Electronics 50PY3D

by , September 13th, 2007 at 07:52 PM (Automatic Explosions)
Just got one of these into the store this week. Still waiting for the 42" version, which if I recall correctly, is not yet being shipped. Could be a warehouse shortage too, LG's good for that. It's their first 1080p plasma offering, and it's been hyped to death.

My first impression of the set is that's it's a nice set. It's a side mounted speaker design like most of their large sets, but the speaker housings are set back a bit further and covered with what appears to be a metal
