Questions for people w/ IT degrees or in IT buisness

I am currently attending University of Phoenix for a bachelor's degree in IT; a for-profit private school accross the US.

Here is my delema, I know that my current school is not the same as a big (normal) university. I can either start right away at University of Phoenix, or it will take about a year and a half JUST to transfer into a California state university (due to math problems and B.S. rules on transfering).

From your experience in the IT field, how important is the university that you got your degree from? Is the fact that it is a degree enough to get jobs?

I am torn between staying with a less prestigious university that I can start on right away, or wait about a year and half to try to transfer into a Cal State University.

I was never asked where my degree came from (although I'm sure my company checked). A degree and related experience is the best combo - don't care where the degree is from, just so long as you have one and you can show competency in your field.
