Well since Im an official IT Auditor now (just started working for Ernst & Young LLP!) I've been told its a great idea (in the companies eyes) to take the CISA exam. Im just wondering what books people used (for those who have taken it). Any prep ideas you wanna give me?
Thanks for the info
After the CISA comes the CISSP!!! (besides my drive to get my CCNA and SCJP)

Hey congrats on the new job. Never done the CISA, just the Security+ and CISSP.
I assume you'll be travelling alot on your new job, might want to go hit www.flyertalk.com to get the lowdown on frequent flier miles and travel.
I think it is much easier to do a cert when you do some vendor training to prep for it. I'd think working for something like that you should be able to get a CISA class paid for, doing a class and some self study is much easier than doing it all self study.
Good luck. |

Thanks MDdan. Actually its good that you're a CISSP too! I've been interested in taking this test eventually...I know I need lots of prep and experience. But I guess I can take the Security+ exam in the meantime! I've taken basic IT security classes before and have done a few self led classes provided by the learning center at my work but is there anything you can say I should focus on ? Is the Security + a good start?
Thanks.
And yes I will be flying quite a bit. From now until mid june I will be going to Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, Massachusettes and the one Im most excited for is IRELAND! Although its not Dublin (we're going to Ennis which is on the other side of the island) Im still really excited because I've got irish blood! I'll check that website out. Work uses some AMEX Traveller deal which I also get points for but the more points the merrier! |

Hey Tekk,
I too work for a Big4 accounting firm, and am studying for the CISA exam this year. I am in the process of identifying good study materials. If you are interested, give me a buzz and perhaps we can form a group to discuss prep and maybe share some of the media costs.
Right now I am finishing up a SOX engagement at a mid-size insurance company. I used to work in IT support and have taken some MS, A+, and the CCNA. I think the CISA certification would be a nice addition. |

Guys,
I am happy that you have great careers as official IT Auditors, I also work for a premiere accounting firm here in the bay area as IT helpdesk. I got my A+, Network+, one exam away from MCSA 2003 and currently shooting to be a full time IT auditor so CISA comes to my mind. I have been a staff member to some SOX engagement but only do the GCC part.
Question, how did you guys become IT auditors? I know you guys are preparing for CISA, how did you do it, jumping from IT helpdesk to Audit? I am taking some accounting class(auditing) and I am having some doubts that it will help me in my goal. that's why i am looking at CISA to improve my chances. Your input will be very much appreciated,

| Where do you find textbook to prepare for exam?
Hello,
I just signed up for the CISA exam for December 2009. I did get the 800 question database from ISACA, but I am also looking for the textbook so I can read study the material. The 2009 CISA review manual, seems to be what I'm looking for, but when I read the contents, it seems it just have more sample questions (for $121). So what would you recommend me to get in order to prepare for this test?
