It's not even worth getting into the IT market anymore. Unless you are making minimum wage, you will most likely lose money by changing careers. The ONLY shortage now is for experienced people.

well, I actually do go to ITT.... i'm transferring out, to a school twice as far away this quarter if it tells you anything. It's really not a good place to go, at least not for me and for my goals. If someone was going to a local ITT and maybe already working in the field, not ever going to go past an associates, then it would probably be fine, otherwise..... go somewhere else.
I am actually meeting someone with devry this week, so I guess we'll see how that goes. |

I've been at DeVry Online for about 2 years and will have my BS CIS degree in 4 months. I must say that it's been a very well organized program. Obviously you might get a better overall education at a traditional university but DeVry offered me 100% online for my degree which is what I needed since I work full time as a Sys Admin and have a family. |

Is it too late to back out if you enrolled but don't start for a month or two at ITT? |

There is a Devry and ITT here in town. I had a friend who went to ITT because he thought it was better. Another guy I know went to UMKC (Univ. of MO in KC ) and got his network admin degree there and is really knocking down the big bucks. He retired from his regular job.... |

I hate to upset fellow techies, especially the younger ones who are trying so hard to get into the field/business. Whenever I read someone discussing DeVry or ITT Tech I want to take the folks to who run those schools and shake them by the legs until they refund all of the money that they've taken from people who, for whatever reason or reasons, actually thought that they were going to be able to get some nationally recognized degree for either less money or in less time than from a so-called traditional school. If you want a real degree; that is to say, one that will be recognized by *all* of the other traditional schools and corporate entities, then you need to stay away from places like DeVry and especially ITT Tech. I'm not implying that they are incapable of teaching. I'm not implying that their students do not learn things that are extremely important and useful. Those points are not at all at issue. For example, take ITT Tech. Look very very closely at the papers that you sign when you enroll. Your credits will have "limited transferability". This means that, should you wish to get a degree from a traditional (real) school, you will have to start over......very nearly from scratch. I have had applicant after applicant come to me, all brighteyed and excited by the fact that they were sporting some newly conferred "degree" from a place like ITT. I feel so sorry for them. Sorry that they were taken advantage of by such so-called "schools". Do yourself a favor. Stay away from them. At the very least, do extensive research on their "graduates". See where they have gone and what they have done; not just a select one or two here and there, but all of them. |

This isnt correct. Credits have limited transferrablility, but the degrees can be transferred. Lets say you have an associates from bachelors from ITT and want to go to a university for your masters. The bachelors from ITT will be recongnized by most universities.
Just thought i should let everyone know this. Quote: |
