A+ Update
I was thinking about taking the A+ exam soon. However, I wanted to see if it was going to be updated anytime soon. I was planning on taking the hardware part first and then the software part maybe a month or so later. I was afraid that maybe they would change them during the time in between and I would have to take them all over again. Anybody heard anything about a new version?

They might update it in a year or two. Since the current is from 2003.

I recently took the A+ exam. I took both the hardware and software the same day.
One of the instructors at the testing site said that he is part of some council with CompTIA and he said that the next version of A+ will be around 2007.
No need to worry though because once you are certified, it never expires. It is up to you if you want to spend the money to take the new version of the tests when they come out... in CompTIA's world.
Good luck on your tests and study hard.

Not tough at all if you have built a PC, repaired them, understand them, etc. You will also need to be a LITTLE more in depth in Windows...there are a lot fo stuff covered from new technology to old technology and Windows XP to Windows 98. It all depends, but in my opinion it wasn't hard. It will be more difficult for people who haven't done much with PC's in this and previous generations, but with the books and other study material, the information is attainable. But in my opinion, it is just like any other test or exam...prepare and study well enough, and the exam or test will be easy.

If you have a fair amount of experience already the A+ should be a breeze. If you don't, then just study some and if you happen to have an extra computer around play around with it.
