computer security?
hi, i am a high school senior frantically looking for a technical college that offers some kind of program for people who like to deal with the internet, networks, computers...and most of all SECURITY. i'm that kind of person who loves to stop the bad guys, viruses, attackers etc...i wanna be something like an "Internet Security Specialist" (is there such thing?) I've been looking around and the only places that offer something like that is ITT-Tech, MTI, and DeVry. I live in Sacramento, and this is all i can find locally. I've heard nothing but bad things about ITT...im planning to check out DeVry some time soon...MTI, i really dont like there class schedules. im stuck right now. Right now, my mind is toward DeVry. anyone that has been to one of these schools give me some insights? im aiming for a bachelors in computer security.

I recommend not going to those technical institutes. Go to a university or college that is well known for technology and you will be better off, IMO.

Welcome to TechIMO!
I agree to try to get into the best known university you can. Just for the college experience as well.
My friend went to NewEngland Tech Institute for Flash Design, and hes doing pretty good. The upside- he had bad grades and proly couldnt get into a 4-year university. The downside- expensive, and you are limited to that small field.
Hey, but theres not one right way to do anything.

you guys took the words right out of my mouth! If grades are an issue and you can't go straight to Sac State or UCD then you are looking at ARC which has a pretty good computer sciences deptartment from what I hear. I'm not sure what classes you've already taken if any but they do offer some distance learning classes which would be your basic CIS classes.

you don't take just a computer secuirty class...do some of your homework on the job field you are looking into! that will be a good starting point for you to figure out what to do and where to go!
