A couple questions...PC Technician
Ok First, I'd like to know..
1. What is the best certification for me to get to start my career as a PC Tech..?
2. I want to start up a small business fixing computers, just something to make a lil money and get some "official" experience. If someone have ever did this, could you please help me out and tell me the best way of going about this?
My Background...
I been working with and fixing computers since i was 12..im now 20. Most problems i ran into i keep a log in a notebook saying how i fixed it. i went to college for about a 1 1/2 but it got way to expensive so i had to leave...Major..IT Cisco Networking
I tried to find a internship or doing volunteer work to get experience but was very unsuccessful. I believe because of the fact that im a young black male but i could be wrong, but thats why im trying to start up my own business.
But Id really appreciate any help. thanx

well, the most basic cert for PC repair that almost everyone expects is an A+ certification...after that it depends what route you wanna go...MCSE is a good one to have as well, but pricey...get your A+ and start advertising in local newspapers and on http://www.craigslist.org for repairs, upgrades, and new builds and such...good luck

You could also start up an ebay business.

Have you looked in the yellow pages for computer shops in your area? You coud stop by and pick up an app.

yup, forgot about that...the only thing with that is you need to have the up-front collateral to be able to start out, unless you wanna take the chance of a prepaid system...regardless, though, the eBay thing isn't all too bad...I've done it a few times, just never had the time to make it a full-time thing...

I do at home repair, getting the word out is the big thing,
My job requires me to meet a lot of people in a lot of company’s
So everybody knows me and what I do, there’s a lot more
Money in IT for small businesses, I found that a lot of small company’s
Do not have an IT department, like law firms, dental offices, small shops,
It’s a great way to go, if you know networking, server management,
And tech stuff, but you need to have a few on the contract to do it full time,
And be busy enough to support yourself, a lot of small company’s contract
Out their IT work, or they have the janitor doing their IT,i'm folding for techimo!! what are you doing?
