    CCNA Out o' da way!

Just took it today (22 Jun) and passed! FINALLY!

Next up... drum roll please... CCNP.

Video set for that series is costing me $1700, all out of pocket though. Man this certification stuff is expensive.

Any of you guys know some good Cisco router sims that contain the commands that are in the next level? I got an awesome sim, but it only has the stuff in the ccna porftion.

**Look out GZ3, I'll catch up with you eventually on the network know-how** (Not really, but it's a nice thought for my goal)
And thus it was spoken by the mighty Uss. And it was so.

It was a set with the Sybex book that was written by Todd Lammle. Good Stuff. I think the official title's "Network Visualizer" or something... (Set cost about $170 when I bought it though)...

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

    haha so true!

Congrats on passing the exam! I am still looking to take my last exam for my MCSA near the end of July and then start my CCNP second week of Aug.

Famos i haven't found any simulations that are decent (most have only a selected amount of commands that will work) If you really want to get serious about the CCNP there are several CCNP labs on ebay that give you real hardware. I have been serious considering getting one. They can cost some money tho

Looks like i need to pick up the pace!!!

Guess I got certified just under the gun.

New Cisco test for CCNA available August 1st. Last day to take original 640-801 is 11/06/07.

    http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le...s/640-802.html

According to http://www.globalnettraining.com, here's the new stuff:

    Secure Device Manager
    Virtual Private Networks
    IPv6 (my favorite!)
    2960 Switches
    Cisco Network Assistant
    Advanced EIGRP and OSPF
    Introduction to Wireless networks
    More security
    Lot's of troubleshooting

There's also a whole new entry level certification now, called Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician (CCENT) that falls in right under the CCNA.

Weird, since I just took and got the CCNA, and I already feel "outdated."

Oh well, it's only a 3 yr cert anyhow, and I guess I still gotta' focus on CCNP next.

I did the training course through my school which got me some cool software and access to the Cisco Education site for life. I would recomend the books for the certifications. I think they come with the labs still.

Yep...I was in the same boat. The best sims I had was through the MS E-Learning Course and witht he virtual lab that came with it. It cost money though. I have always found that the commands don't work unless I type it in the way the Sim thinks it should be typed in, i.e. some have spaces after the comman and then some don't...inconsistentcy thorughout the entire command line .
