How to put certifications on resume?

I was wondering if you are suppose to put down a membership number on your resume under the section where you list your certifications? So far I have not, but I got to thinking that how will the employee be able to check that I am certified?

And if there is a number you put down, is it your certificate number or your membership number? Or does it depend on the certificate?

    Thanks,

    That's a good question...

I got picked up where I work now, without putting anything except the title of the certification... No Microsoft or CompTIA number for them to check. I suppose it could just be like references though, and if they ask for it - is when you should spill the beans and give them everything they want.

For a resume, I'm sure cert title is more than enough.
And thus it was spoken by the mighty Uss. And it was so.

I just put that certifications on there, during the interview hopefully they get a feeling on what your knowledge is.

Say if you did put false information on your resume and they find out, they can probably terminate you with no questions asked.

yeah...I agree with everyone else. Just place the name of the cert, and if they ask for verification, either whip out the card if you have it, or supply them with the verification web address and your number. Like GZ said, most don't ask, but they will gauge your competence at the interview...should anyway.

For A+ and Net+ I've never been asked but most companies do want to see your transcript of exams for MCSE, etc. You have an ID that you setup on the website for the potential employer to check for like 24 or 48 hours then it expires.
