| A+ Certification - Upgrading?
I plan on getting the A+ Certification and just looking for a head ups information, since amazon usually takes forever to deliver my stuff.
I purchased CompTIA A+ Complete Certification Kit and CompTIA A+ Certification All-In-One Desk Reference For Dummies. I know I have to take the A+ Essential Exam and then I'll have to choose from one of the three technician. I'm taking the Depot technician, but I was wondering after I past the A+ Essential Exam and Depot technician, can I go back and take the IT Technician and the Remote Support Technician to upgrade my A+ certification?
Thanks for any help! |

Never mind, I emailed Comptia and got a quick reply. Quote: |
Once you pass the A+ Essentials exam 220-601, then you may take the A+ IT Tech 220-602, the A+ Remote Support Tech 220-603 and the A+ Depot Tech 220-604 and receive three separate A+ Certifications.

You can as Comptia stated, but I don't really see the point. All of the exams are near identical with only minor differences. Employers don't really care what you have, but IT Technician is the standard exam that almost all people take. For the 400$ it would cost you, it isn't worth "upgrading" your A+, instead I'd focus on some other certifications that would help you more. |

Unless you plan on working IN a depot repair location, that isnt the best choice of A+ to get either way. Your getting off geting the Tech or Remote Support if you plan on working in a business/corporate environment. Even the slight differences will help and the Depot Repair doesnt "sound" as good to an employer. |

If you have A+, no need to upgrade unless you're employer is paying for it and wants you to. The certification doesn't expire and the exams are getting much EASIER. |

Like they said, no point in upgrading :P All an employer cares about(if they do) is the "A+" label and like they mentioned before the first test typically is regurgitated for most of the other 3. |

For instance, the remote support makes customer service and phone skills a very important set of questions. |
