congrats!
I'm going to begin my CCNP track soon. Plan on taking the switching exam b4 the routing one. Think it'll be a good idea?
How many questions in that routing exam? All multiple choice? What's a minimum pass? Also, how long did they allow and how long did it take you?

Thanks guys, it was a rough one let me tell you!
plucky duck --> I am taking switching next, its all preference as far as I can see. I took routing first at a recommendation from a colleague who is prepping for the written part of the CCIE exam. I figured he knew what was what so I took his advice. I probably should have done switching first as that is what I do, I manage all of the switches in our network, but that'll just make then next one easier for me !
The test was 69 questions, I think they were all multiple choice, I am not good at remembering that stuff, but the majority was multiple choice. Passing was 690 on a 300 - 1000 scale and I got 90 minutes to finish, and I took about 35 minutes to finish.
Good luck to you all in your endeavours! |

Plucky, like Tarpat says, it's kind of a preference on the order, but one order I saw that quite a few took was:
1. Building scalable cisco networks
2. building cisco remote access networks
3. building cisco multi layer switched networks
4. (the biggie) Cisco internetwork troubleshooting
These are the titles in the CCNP library.
They ALL said to take the troubleshooting last, because it is the toughest, and if you take and pass all the other three, you should be able to do t-shooting pretty good from working with all the different layers that are addressed in the routing, switching and remote access exams. good luck dude! |
