No comptia has server different exams such as server+, network+, linux+, etc. They are pretty much generic exams that gives you the basics of a certain topic

The question you should ask yourself is what are you wanting to do in the IT world?
Desktop support?
Server support? (MS, Linux,etc)
Network (Cisco,etc)
Secuirty
DBA
SAN
Wireless
etc
From there you will decide what career path you will want to take. You might start the CCNA and go, you know this is really boring and im not interested in it. And switch to the MCP/MCSA or linux because you enjoy working on servers. It it all up to you.

Microsoft exams are different than Comptia exams. However if you get your A+ or network+ they can transfer over to help you get your MCSA by filling in electives required to become a MCSA/MCSE
