| MCP For Win2k..anyone do it?
I have had Win2k for several months now and its a great OS. I've been pondering on whether or not to get a MCP in it because at my work, we deal with businesses that run Win2k often and I would just like to be able to put that on my business card and maybe have it get me a higher comission rate
Anyway, Im not interested in getting the full MCSE just yet so thats why Im narrowing it down. But if anyone has done the books/classes/whatever to get the certification, was it hard? Have any pointers for a n00b to follow now that you've done it already? Thanks in advance

| www.MCPMAG.com will have some info.
I have an MCP in Win NT 4.0 but not Win2000
I plan on getting my MCSA (winY2K) some time this year. But havent taking any exams yet. So I can't tell you if it was difficult for me. I find for the MS exams some people will say a test was easy another will say the same exam was difficult. I would say get as much hands on as you can, set up a lab at home if possible. I've heard that hands on is more important with Win2000 than NT 4.0, for the exams |

I have the MCP for Win2k Pro. I think the key for me was finding the study time. I used a book published by Sybex, and a computer based Training course from SmartCertify. It definately helps to be using Win2k, but in my opinion that is not enough. I set up a home lab so I could try things out and install and reinstall and work with network setup etc., Hands on knowledge is important. I would often spend my lunch break, with a book and a burger, and then at night after the wife and kid were in bed, try things out. (hint always leave at least one machine "un-broken")
Some people schedule the test just to force themselves to study.
There are also a variety of practice tests online that can be helpful in assessing you state of readiness. |
