I just received the Learning C# book by O'Reily and will be putting that on my active read list.
I have no budget for Certs or Training this year through my work, so i am mostly working on personal growth. Next year, assuming they manage to return the training budget, i am going to see if they can get me some study materials for the Citrix Xen App Cert. I think that based on my understanding of the building of a farm, I would make an excellent Citrix Specialist.
My goals to join my companies Server side team appears to be foiled as we are not hiring anyone to replace the lost capabilities in my current department. So im backburnering M$ certs for the time being.

Starting to get into the LPI level 1. Probably won't take the exams until next year but I'm getting my Linux VMs ready and getting the study material.

I was toying around with the Vmware one, but sort of edging towards the the CCIE instead. I have a bunch of the material, I just need to set a date and start. I know ill need at least 6 months to prep for the written, but Im worried about leaving for bootcamp before I can do the written part.

I'm debating weather or not to get any certs. If I can skip A+ and go for something a little more challenging, then I'd be more open to the idea. Any suggestions for where I should start off?
ATM I'm continuing my CS degree.

Currently studying for my A+ i want to get it this fall. Going to start studying net + next spring. Ill be graduating with an associates in computer network administration in may. Hopefully when i graduate ill have 2 certs to make up for lack of work experience. So that HR will pass my resume on so i can get an interview to sell my self.
Ive been studying hardware components and prices. Im fairly good at picking out decent components for fellow users looking to upgrade or build.
which a+ test is the best to take the 602 exam or essentials.

The programming certs would be more what I would be into. Maybe some windows and linux certs as well.

Well Comptia has a Linux certification that goes over Linux in a broad way. I hear its actually kind of hard because of the silly questions they ask.
As for windows, start here:
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en...t-default.aspx If you go down this route I would suggest a beefy machine with vmware server or something and some licenses for windows so you can do your own lab.
I'm not familiar with the programming world. I don't really do much of it and just glancing around the certifications all depend on the language you want to learn.
Here is a link for the Java certification as an example
Java Certification - SCJA &SCJP| Sun Certification | Sun Training

Im not sure what 602 is, did you mean these?
Its required to take take the essentials and one additional practical test.CompTIA A+ (2006 objectives) by taking 220-601 and one of the following: 220-602, 220-603 and 220-604 exams
CompTIA A+
The latest version of CompTIA A+ is CompTIA A+ 2009 Edition. Two exams are necessary to be certified: CompTIA A+ Essentials, exam code 220-701; and CompTIA A+ Practical Application, exam code 220-702.
Pricing parts and building a single workstation is a good start but that isnt what you will be doing in a corporate environment. Dell will be your friend and pre-built machines are basically the norm, unless your company has no money. The only components ive ever bought for a machine are RAM, HDs, and i think one video card.

GroundZero3,
Have you got started yet on the CCIE? I've been at it a while. I'm taking a break right now to rebuild my Home Network, Data Center, and NOC. Not to mention using about 8 full 45U racks to do it with.
My NOC room is equipped with a sets of 4 Monitors for each of 3 workstations I use in there.
I'm re-engineering it right now.
I've also got CCIE/CCDE racks to support 5 CCIE tracks and by association the CCDE.
I'm certified at the professional level in each track.
I also work in each track.
In addition, I have my own Cisco/HP/SGI SAN, various NMS Systems, and some load balancing / content switching gear.
As I said I work with each track and so I actually need it to stay fresh and try things.
Let me know if I can help.
