Bah,
I have to believe that MS Certification Tests have got to be the absolute WORST, when it comes to the actual questions. Not that they're hard or anything, but all the extra crap that gets plastered into each individual one.
I'm set to finally upgrade my MCSE 03 to the 08 stuff, and going through the practice exams reminded me of just how BAD it can really get.
Sometimes it seems that the extra info isn't ever necessary. For example:
Server 1 and Server 2 are members of the domain fabrikam.com. Server 1 holds the Active Directory Domain Services role, and is currently the preferred bridgehead on its particular network site. Server 2 is a member server with an 80Gb Hard Drive, and 2Gb RAM, and has the following roles installed; DHCP, DNS, WINS. The network consists of 60 Windows Vista SP1 computers, and 25 Windows XP SP3 computers. Fabrikam.com is also in the process of aquiring a partnership with the company Contoso.com, and will require trust relationships built between the two companies. How do you change the desktop wallpaper on Server 2?
-------------
Of course, I'm exadurating a bit on the question, but I really think that 99% of the information listed in those stupid questions is irrelevant. And I'm venting. I hate MS tests.

I don't think you're going too far OTT, but why else do you think they allow you 3-4 hours for an exam with only about 40-50 questions...???
I remember on one of my exams, I got bored half-way through reading it and had to flag it and check it again at the end... Bore-ring....

Most of the irrelevent data is there because they use canned questions, if you notice on practice exams, many of the questions have almost the same wording. They get one general description for a question and change it as needed for the specific question they are asking. Its a way to make sure that the qualified, and attentive, are passing while the ones that just sit there and memorize questions get confused. |

A better question is, do company really care if you have mcse 03 or 08 unless the company your working for is giving it to you for free.
Mine did, you will get mcse 03 whether you like it or not. We will pay for it too and let you go to classes. Ok doke boss, thank you very much. I wonder how is that now with current economy condition?
Now I just have to get off my ass and start studying for CCNA since I completed both CCNA and IOS Security class this summer. I know it is off the beaten track from windoze but it also came for free.

LOL - engracio.
Reminded me of that Family Guy scene about Joining the Army.
Had this promotion about joining the army. The guy was surrounded by women, and swiming in cash, and on a cruise ship USS Partaaaay. At the end it said "U.S. Army. Your experience may differ."
Funny stuff. |
