    A+

I would like to start working towards my A+ cert. I was thinking about doing it on my own, not sure if thats the best way but figure I will give it a shot. What book or books would you guys recommend to me?

    Thanks

    Hiya,

What I would suggest is to get both practice tests and a book called "Mike Meyer's Certification Passport : A+ Certification". It may be a little dated by now but it is a heap of information. When you study, write down any keywords or topic that is talked about in the book along with the definition and description in a seperate composition book. After you have read the Cert guide and have condensed the needed information into the composition book or books, you can then re-read all of what you have written and use it to study quickly. This works by both causing you to read all of the information multiple times (copying it from source to composition) and by writing it down, so it really sticks in your head.

Best of luck and remember to keep the timer on the backburner, since you will more than likely finish with minutes to spare.

Were you going to take the course for A+ 2009? The previous A+ exam is still valid for a bit longer. I'm not sure how much stuff is out there for A+ 2009 as of yet.

Me too, Im using the one from comptia, and its good. Comes with practice tests that have questions that are actually on the tests, and it gives goals as to what you need to know for each part of the test. It was fifty bucks when I got it.
