    What is A+ ?

     
    I keep hearing A+ certification and I would like to know is as *simple* terms as possible what that means?

    primarily PC Hardware/laptops etc.
    Its a hardware certification primarily.
    Helicopters don't fly; they vibrate so much and make so much noise that the earth rejects them.

    Essentially, to my understanding yes...
    I imagine there's other details to it, but I'll let somebody else speak up about them

    I thougth A+ certs were people who were officially allowed to open hardware/repair shops, through taking and passing the exam.

    A+ means to know and understand the basics of how computer hardware works and along with software.

    i.e what is needed to boot up and what not.

    trouble shooting and a little of networking. Also include printers

    you hit the nail on the head! I just started taking a Basic Operating System and Hardware class at Baker College, and the book that is used for both this class and the next class (Troubleshooting) is the Comptia Certified "Enhanced A+ Guide to Managing and Maintaining Your PC.

    Did the A+ test cover any unix based OS's?

    The Test does not cover *nix based OS. Mostly Win9x,2k, Dos.

    CompTIA also has Linux + .

    It's next on my "+" list. Then Server +.
