primarily PC Hardware/laptops etc.
Its a hardware certification primarily.Helicopters don't fly; they vibrate so much and make so much noise that the earth rejects them.

I thougth A+ certs were people who were officially allowed to open hardware/repair shops, through taking and passing the exam.

A+ means to know and understand the basics of how computer hardware works and along with software.
i.e what is needed to boot up and what not.

you hit the nail on the head! I just started taking a Basic Operating System and Hardware class at Baker College, and the book that is used for both this class and the next class (Troubleshooting) is the Comptia Certified "Enhanced A+ Guide to Managing and Maintaining Your PC.
