What kind of business card? I personally don't care to see a persons long alphabet of certifications, they mean nothing to me.

cards to pass out to people at work so I can fix their PC's.... its more for the typical user to wow them and show them I am certified... of course to us tech ppl we know certs dont really mean too much... but to a user whos business you want to get it must be nice right?
for example...when you need a plumber..its nice to know they are certified...you know what I mean. Just to show the person that I know what I am doing, I want the card to catch their eye. Im just trying to make a few extra bucks on the side...bills arent going to pay themselves

IMO unless its your actual "business" that is for a a real business you run then I think it would be out of place. Just handing out a card with your name on it and saying "hey I d PC's repairs on the side" you wouldn't be adding in all that info. and to me would seem a bit tacky.
Your comparison isn't all that accurate as plumbers and other contractors show their contractors license info. but again that is generally only on a real business card.

well call me Mr. Tacky lol
...I think I will do it.. again from a marketing point of view, ppl like to see certs , licence's etc... it gives them more of a reassuring feeling...

I do know what you mean by certs dont impress and it being tacky... but like I said... when someone says they are " blank and blank certified" in what ever...whether it be home repairs or what ever, it does give the person "somewhat" of a good feeling.

Lets put it this way, Do you know what XYZ certification is if i just put it on a business card?
I could say im a certified monkey handler by the Barnum and Bailey's Training Institute ... what does that mean to you exactly!? Does that have the same meaning as something that your already familiar with!?
Anyone can say they are certified in anything but it only means something if the other person knows that the certifying institute means something.

If they mean something to a potential customer, by all means you should include them. If the certifications just make people's eyes glaze over, then you leave them off.

Think about the possible reactions people will have when they see your business cards with the certs listed.
People will either be impressed or won't know or care.
If you leave them off the card it you will miss out on the people that might be impressed.
