Topic: I've already acquired my CCNA back in January. It'll be awhile before I'll complete the 4 exams for CCNP designation. Question is if I start on one or two of the CCNP exams, and my CCNA cert expires, will I have to redo ...

Lemon, the CCNA class would be a good one to take if that's the kind of stuff you want to do. You might need to look for a uni(or maybe your school has one..) that is a Cisco Learning Academy, in that they have the curriculum and the instructors cert'ed by Cisco to teach the material. The CCNA course here is 4 semesters(about 2 years worth). It was like 2 hr,twice a week for me when I took it.

Send a message via ICQ to plucky duck
When I took CCNA, it was a 2 month deal with quite a bit of practical training, a midterm and a final practical exam. Those who were CCNA certified before the course completed were not required to complete the course. But that's just foolish imo, since you've paid for it already, why not complete it and get the extra experience/knowledge?

I'm not sure if Universities offer any of the MCSE, CCNA, or CCNP programs. They're more suited for colleges and technical colleges I think. Never went to Uni so I wouldn't know for sure.

Plucky

12. When I get my Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP), will that renew my CCNA certification?
The higher-level certification holds the greater value. Therefore achieving and maintaining the higher certification renews the lower level general certification. If a prerequisite for another certification is CCNA and you hold a Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP), the higher certification acts as the pre-requisite.

13. Will CCIE certification recertify my CCSP?
Yes. Any CCIE certification or CCIE recertification exam will recertify your CCSP.

14. Will CCSP certification recertify CCNA? Will I get an updated CCNA certificate?
CCSP recertifies CCNA. Your CCNA start-date will be reset to the date you were issued the CCSP certification but you will not automatically receive a new Certificate or wallet-card. The Certification Tracking System will reflect the new CCNA date.

You brought back a pretty old thread.

The CCNA exam will be renewed upon passing the ICD2 exam again, or any exam above it. For instance, you could take one of the 4 exams required for CCNP and that would renew your CCNA if you passed.

CCNA - Career Certifications & Paths - Cisco Systems

CCNA Recertification
CCNA certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, either pass the current CCNA exam, or pass the ICND2 exam, or pass any 642 professional level or Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams), or pass a current CCIE written exam.
