Which set of books should I get???

    Hey, All!

I am wanting to get some books for MCSE certification, and I saw a set of books for $125 that were by Mike Meyer.

    They were:

    For MCSE --

    Windows 2000 Pro Certification Passport,
    Windows 2000 Server Certification Passport,
Windows 2000 Network Infrastructure Administration Certification Passport,
Windows 2000 Directory Services Administration Certification Passport,
    Windows XP Professional Certification Passport

    For MCSA --

Managing a Windows 2000 Network Enviroment Certification Passport

    ========================

And I also saw a set of books for $99 by Michael Palmer

    "MCSE CORE-FOUR EXAM PREP PACK"

    Networking Essentials,
    NT Workstation 4,
    NT Server 4,
NT Server 4 in the Enterprise

    So, now comes the question...

    Which one is better?

I was thinking the one with Windows 2000 and XP would be better since it's more up-to-date.

    But what do you think??

    Thanks in advance!!

    David

yeah, anything with NT4 is a waste of money for getting your certs. Its helpful to know because not every company upgrades for a few years and there will be legacy computers and OS's running at pretty much any job you find. But you want to spend your money on the most up todate stuff you can find for certifications. In fact I dont know that I would recommend that first set either. MS is moving to a .NET structure soon and you'll want be informed for that.

you can relax - .net server hasn't been officially released yet.

the w2k cert is still very much relevant regardless.

as for study guides, i don't remember the publisher off the top of my head, but they were co-authored by the global knowledge people.

I've yet to read a dog by Mike Meyers. The guy keeps it moving along, inserts a bit of humour to lighten the mood and knows of what he talks.

The library keeps growing because I'm loath to loan them out to anyone for fear of never seeing them again.

    Thumbs up

I just recently finished reading the four Mike Meyer's Windows 2000 Passport books that you have listed, and I really liked them. He doesn't have a lot of "fluff" in his books... just the important stuff.
