Been meaning to get my education going for the last six monthes, but one thing after another...
Do you think that the home study only approach was suffiecient?

A+ Self-Study
Yes, I believe so, since the test is not even that hard. As long as you build computers and install OS then you shouldn't have a problem. If you don't know much about computers then I suggest you go to community college and get a network administration before you even attempt to take it.

Congrats, got mine in June doing just what you did. That book is excellent, I still refer to it now.
Are you using the same series net+ book? I just picked it up last week.

Finished mt A+ up last June....been studying Net+ but inconsistently lol..class study is a little better for me due to tendency to not be consistent.
But yeah, Id like to do N+, MCP, MCSA.

Congrats Jackeroo!
Based on reading this post, I went out and bought that "all in one" A+ book by meyers. My question is... what edition did you buy?? The only copy available in the book store when I went there was the 3rd edition but I noticed the 4th edition is out now too... They both seem to have the same table of contents but I was wondering if I am missing some imporatant info in the later version ( other than info on adaptive test taking ).
I have a full time job that happens to also give me time to read while on the job ( I love it
hehe ) so I want to take advantage of it and get ready for some certifications!
Any suggestions on if I should keep the 3rd edition or buy the 4th online???

Personnally I would not buy the 4th edition what you have should be fine. You may want to buy an exam cram book to read after all in one
Good Luck

Hello and Congradulations! I will be taking the A+ Core Hardware on Wednesday of this week. Do you know of any tests out there that would be as close as possible to the real thing?
Thanks a bunch! -Michele

Re: Passed A+ on 9/26/02
Yeah the A+ Core Hardware was tough but I came out victorious scoring 672 (596 was required to pass), but the OS Tech Test I thought was harder than I thought surprisingly I passed it with an 816. I just passed both A+ Tests just now--You're not alone--besides, I'm bidding for Network+ too!Originally posted by Jackeroo75

After you get Network+, don't you think it makes MORE SENSE to be MCSE Certified than MCSA Certified? You will get a lot more "oomph" if you get an MCSE (or even an MCSE+I) rather than just an MCSA....
Just my 2 Cents...but just do what is right for you...but if I were you, I *personally* would shoot for an MCSE or MCSE+I instead as an MCSE has better credentials IMO.....

Got my A+ two months ago. Work sent me to school
It was real boring. Also studied on my own. 1007 in Software. 960 in Hardware.

4GB is about the minimum you want for good performance. I kicked up to 8 and I noticed the difference. Especially in games.
