Wow, that Democratic victory last month is the gift that keeps on giving.
The day after the electoral win, Rummy resigned. Now, John Bolton has resigned as the US envoy to the UN when his interum appointment expires. I guess seeing that he doesn't have a prayer at winning confirmation it makes sense. Perhaps the next appointment will be someone that believes that the U.N. should exist.

We need someone in there who will pretend that the UN is useful and not an anti-American bunch of third world crooks.
If we stop pointing out the truth, maybe the world will like us again.

If we stop pointing out the truth, maybe the world will like us again. | Historically, the UN has been useful at fostering dialog and is attributed with stopping wars by getting the parties talking. However, it requires that the member nations have respect for the institution. If you start off with that the UN members are out to get you, it doesn't work. |

| Well lets just see how they do with Iran and Darfur for starters.
We have a war coming our way and the UN isn't doing anything to stop it.
I just hope they don't put the typical namby-pamby party hack in. I want to see a person of strength who will stand up to their doublespeak. Quote: |

What wars did the UN really prevent? Vietnam, korea, zimbabwe, iran/iraq, the continent of africa, balkans... really what war has the UN stopped. Or were the participants really not bent on war for the battles UN claims to hav overted. |

the UN hasnt done anything. Its as broken and corrupted as the League of Nations.
Please tell me how ALL civilized cultures of the world can have reps sit down and get together and try to develop peace and understanding...
WE ALL LEAD COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LIVES AND WANT COMPLETELY DIFFERRENT THINGS. It will NEVER work... especially when "perks" or $$$$ is involved to "change" interests on a whim.
I honestly dont see a way to accomplish what the group is truly designed to do... unless to take the DIRECT leader of the country and have them meet... but then, it becomes a honeypot for would be assassins and glory hunters.
so what would everyone else do, given they had a chance to change things... specifically regarding the UN/ and or its actions(lack thereof)??

Yeah...I guesss YOU can say he was unwillingly fired, but YOU would be wrong.
